Features of Christchurch City Council
- The City Council of Christchurch comprises of the Mayor of the Christchurch and 12 Councilors who are elected from 16 consecutive wards.
- The election procedures are handled by the Department of Internal Affairs. The department is responsible of collecting statistics regarding the Triennial local Council elections. Generally two electoral systems are put to use. One is the first Past the Post and the other one is called Single Transferable Voting.
- The Christchurch City Council maintains a community Profile which maintains a systematic record of the local community.
- The various departments of the Christchurch City Council comprises of the Human Resources, Corporate services, Public Affairs, City environment and community services to name some.
