This institution was born in the year1880 and since its inception has been enjoying the undivided loyalty of the art lovers. The Center of Contemporary Art is Christchurch’s most famous art gallery. The center is a subsidiary of the Canterbury Society of Arts Charitable Trust. There are two galleries in the Center of Contemporary Art used for special purposes. One is known as the Selling Gallery which arranges for rotating exhibitions of original art every year.
