Getting to New Zealand

New Zealand - Auckland - Christchurch - Queenstown - Wellington

New Zealand is one of the major holiday destinations in the Pacific, attracting millions of vacationers and adventure seekers from across the world every year. As it's an island nation, the best way of getting to New Zealand is certainly by air or by sea. By far flights are the most convenient way to reach New Zealand, and so the overwhelming majority of visitors arrive by air only.

Getting to New Zealand by Air: New Zealand has seven international airports including the Auckland International Airport, Wellington International Airport, and Christchurch International Airport. Auckland and Christchurch are the main gateways with Auckland servicing more than 20 destinations in Pacific, Asia, Europe and the US. There are also direct flights from Christchurch to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Singapore, and Tokyo. Direct flights to major destinations in Australia and the Pacific Islands such as Samoa, Fiji, Tonga and the Cook Islands are also available. New Zealand is just 3-4 hour flight from Eastern Australian cities of Sydney, Cairns, Brisbane, Canberra and Gold Coast; 12-hour non-stop flight from the United States, and about 10-hour flight from most of the Southeast Asian countries including Singapore and Hong Kong.

Getting to New Zealand by Sea: A few cruise ships do visit Auckland in New Zealand occasionally, but there are no regular passenger ship services to this beautiful island nation.
