Vodafone X Air New Zealand

New Zealand - Auckland - Christchurch - Queenstown - Wellington
Vodafone X - Air, hosted in the Wellington Anniversary Weekend is probably the biggest youth festive event held in New Zealand. Extreme sports spiced with music and gaiety pulls up the spirits of the participants and the crowd alike. Participants enter the Vodafone X-Air from across the world and adventure enthusiasts ensure they do not miss the event. February 2007 will see more than 150 such national and international icons such as Sandro Dias, Jamie Bestwick and Corey Bohan, Busty Wolters, Fredrick Johansson and Morgan Carlson take part in the action packed sports. The motorcyclists perform the wildest shenanigans in mid air and a raring crowd cheers the favorites and the amateurs alike. The high diving tower, huge screen that zooms in to the participants' acts and the party called Lagoon Lunacy is enough to bring out the wild side of the already charged sports enthusiasts. The Vodafone X-Air is a major tourist draw and has supercharged the sports tourism industry in New Zealand. A number of local bands and musical combos including PNC, Shapeshifter, Kora, Blindspott, The Black Seeds, DJ Logikal, Goodnight Nurse and P Money are scheduled to perform at the Vodafone X-Air event, 2007. The 2007 event is to be held at the Wellington Waterfront on Friday 9th February 2007 and Saturday 10th February 2007. Individual passes are priced at $15 per day while the two-day passes cost $25. To make the audience more manageable the crowd has been limited to 15000 a day. A limited access to the waterfront and an alcohol ban in the public places of Wellington are measures that have been taken to ensure proper security of the participants and the public as emotions tend to run high at such an event. In an effort to involve the audience, prizes worth $14,000 have been announced by the organizers for the winners of biking, stake boarding and other event winners among the public.
