Cambridge New Zealand

New Zealand - Auckland - Christchurch - Queenstown - Wellington
Cambridge, the town of trees , is located in the Waikato region of the North Island in New Zealand. This small but picturesque town on the banks of the Waikato river is the biggest municipality of the Waipa district. The town is famous with the tourists not only for its lovely vicinity but also for its thoroughbred horse stables which boasts of producing a series of champion horses in the games of racing and showjumping. Moreover the location of the Lake Karapiro, nearby the town makes it all the more important. The lake is one of the several artificial lakes created as a part of the hydroelectricity scheme, has now become a prominent rowing venue. In 1978 the World Rowing Championships was held here and the forthcoming 2010 championship is also scheduled to take place in New Zealand. Touring through the Cambridge Throughbred Lodge, which is regarded as one of the landmarks of the global horse industry and the Cambridge Raceway is a revealing experience. Apart from these the city has two fantastic museums , the Cambridge Museum and the Robinson Sports Museum. The city is famous for its antiques and crafts. The Aly's antique on the Duke Street, the Antics of Victoria at the Victoria Street and the Gordon Antiques on the Commerce Street are some of the favourite spots for the antique lovers. You can always pick up some souvenirs from these shops. Another very interesting part of the city is its art Galleries. The Heritage Gallery NZ Art and Craft is an exclusive shopping destination where you will find the most updated craft selection of New Zealand. The Hydro Rd Gallery of Gavin also exhibits some excellent work of art for auction. The local transport of the city is superb. Regular bus services are available to move about here and there. Accommodation facilities are in plenty. Expensive luxurious five star hotels to budget bread and breakfast Inn, the city offers a place to everyone irrespective of their financial positions.
