Now coming to the attractions the Flax Stripper Museum is the key tourist destination within the city. The museum is quite a well maintained one and probably the best of its kind in New Zealand. It has exhibits showing the workings of flax industry. Once the backbone of the town the industry has receded now, but this museum has the only working stripper and the clutching machines in the country. Both are available for viewing. The wonderful photograph displays along with a video on woolpacks and carpet manufacturing is also present here. Tourist love being at the De Molen Windmill which reminds you of the seventeenth century Dutch flourmill. Visiting the Foxton Beach is pure fun. Six kilometers away from the town, Foxton Beach is a tiny hamlet of around two thousand people. Located on the South Taranaki Bight at the mouth of Manawatu river the place is a hot holiday destination for its extensive beach . Moreover the bird sanctuary in the Manawatu river estuary is a beautiful locale to spend a few hours. The serene beauty of the place have gained lots of admirers.
