New Plymouth New Zealand
New Zealand - Auckland - Christchurch - Queenstown - Wellington
Things to see
Mt. Taranki, the most climbed mountain of New Zealand, offers a fascinating sight surrounded by lush green forests. It is one of the wettest spots in the country that receives an annual rainfall of 7000mm. The environment of the mountain supports unique vegetation that includes the sub tropical forests, sub alpine herbs and a variety of local vegetation. Resembling much like the Mt Fuji of Japan, this mountain of New Plymouth feeds over 50 rivers and streams.
Get mesmerized as you see the volcanic cones on one side and the pristine coastlines on the other. The place which has a starking backdrop is a heaven for photographers. Enjoy the beautiful glowing red sun at the local beaches of East End, Fitzroy, Oakura and Ngamotu.
The place is a gateway to the Egmont National Park that houses the famous mountain of this part.
New Plymouth of New Zealand is now gaining its prominence as a place famous for its potteries, art and sculpture. The galleries and the studios located all around New Plymouth are a nice place to explore. The Govett Brewster Art Gallery is a must when you are on a trip to this part of New Zealand. Also do not miss the St Mary Cathedral, the oldest stone church in New Zealand.
