In the year 1843 the Wellington Jewish Community came into being. It was a tiny population but had an impressive effect on the Jewish World of New Zealand. The Beth el Synagogue is considered to be one of the orthodox Jewish institution of New Zealand. Jews across the globe has come down and settled in the scenic city of Wellington and that's how the city's culture has been shaped with a great variety. . Previously the place was used as a synagogue but now its more reputed as the Jewish Community Centre of New Zealand. The Beth el Synagogue provides community services in different ways. Kosher Deli, Chevra Kedisha, Care of the old people, Mikvah, Touring of the Center, Supporting Immigration Services and so on and so forth. There is also an Israeli Information center in the building of the Jewish Community Center. Kosher Deli means a shop within the Beth el Synagogue which sells superb Israeli frozen food and Kosher Wine of Australia. Kosher chocolates and lollies and several ither foodstuff. The Synagogue which now serves as the community center has also appointed two volunteers who are thereto take care of the elderly people in the various rest homes and also those of whom are in the community. Regular Minyan services are performed here in this synagogue of which you can be a part. Several Jewish groups have come together in this synanagogue to carry forth their traditions. El Bethel Synagogue can be visited by the travelers who are interested to gather information about the Jews in New Zealand. The building is not that impressive neither can you get hold of any exotic piece of art in the synagogue premises.
