To experience the traditional culture of New Zealand , visit the Tamaki Maori Village. The site is one of the eminent tourist attractions of Rotura, New Zealand and have won acclamations like the Supreme Tourism Award and the National heritage and cultural tourism award.

The journey to tamaki is a flight back in time. As you pass through the village in a coach your driver cum guide will keep on relating the pre European stories , history and set of rules of the celebrations which awaits you in the village.

The setting of the village is very close to nature. Amidst the deep woods, from about fifteen minutes away , in the south of Rotura, the place is exquisitely beautiful.

At the entry point the visitors are welcomed with the traditional pre European style. Cracking of huge fireballs, sweet melodies showering from the Maori instruments and weird activities done by the people, catch your attention as you can feel the excitement in your nerves.

The heart of this village is the major attraction of this place. The performances at the meeting house are a crowdpuller. Rangiatea culture group enthralls the audience with the colorful shows reflecting the tradition, culture, music and history of the Maori people.

This tour is usually arranged in the evening. It takes about three and a half hours to complete viewing every nook and corner of the Tamaki Maori Village. Food is accompanied with lively musical performances of the hosts. The Village is opened to the tourists every day of the year except the Christmas Day. The rates charged here are very affordable, which includes pick up and drop from central Rotura along with the vibrant shows and the scrumptious hangi dinner.
