The geothermal region encompassing the Wairakei Village stretches from the geyser lands of Rotorua almost one hour north to the volcanoes, which is an hour south of Lake Taupo. Wairakei thermal parks are within the Waiora Valley, a culturally significant place of distinct culture for the Maori people.
