Apart from being a beautiful travel destination, New Zealand has also gained world fame for its Cricket. The New Zealand Cricket team first played their Test Cricket in the 1930 against Christchurch in England and became the fifth nation. In 1956 the New Zealand cricket team won a test It took against the West Indies at Eden Park in Auckland. Over the years there has been tremendous achievement in New Zealand cricket and the following are the examples- - Richard Hadlee, one of the best all rounder of the world and New Zealand, created world record for most Test wickets (374) vs India Bangalore 1988.

All over New Zealand Cricket has become so popular that the major cities of New Zealand houses at least one or two cricket clubs. One such place which provides the opportunity to truly experience cricket is Queenstown. Queenstown, the resort town of New Zealand also has the Queenstown Cricket Club which hosts a lot of cricket matches and initiate development programs to encourage new talents. The home ground of the Cricket Club of Queenstown is located within the Queenstown Events Centre that lies at a distance of 8km from the City Centre and near the Queenstown International Airport. It is one of the beautiful locations with the mountains overlooking the grounds. This club offers access to New Zealand's best of four turf wickets, two artificial wickets and both outdoor and indoor facilities to its members. The Queenstown Cricket Club is one of the principal clubs of Central Otago and has three teams in the Senior Grade Competition and a big Junior Section.
