Queenstown is a traveler's dream destination. Featuring all imaginable types of adventure activities and a great scenic beauty, this small town attracts almost half of the total number of tourists visiting New Zealand itself. Located near Queensland, Mount Aspiring National Park is a treasure house of mountains, glaciers, river valleys and alpine lakes. Mount Aspiring National Park works as a bridge between Queenstown and Southern Alps. Maoris, the earliest known settlers, trekked through this park to reach pounamu fields on the west coast. Afterwards Europeans came and they tried to farm the valleys contained in this park. Many of the places in the park were in fact named and mapped by the European settlers. In the centre of Mount Aspiring National Park lies a massive area of wilderness that is full of glaciers, mountains, valleys and of course wildlife. A Journey along this stupendous mountainous trail with carpet of lush green vegetation under your feet and snow covered Mount Aspiring beckoning and birds creating symphony with their chirping; you would rummage for proper adjectives to describe how you feel. There are many places along this coveted route that may take days to be reached. So if you want to explore this territory to the maximum, book your accommodation within the park. There are innumerable hikers' huts distributed along the major walking areas. Maintained by Queenstown Department of Conservation, a prior booking is advisable especially during the peak summer season. The most trampled track in Mount Aspiring National Park is the Routeburn Track. Straddling across Lake Wakatipu and the Te Anau-Milford Road, the three day tour would lay bare deep gorges, green valleys and the park's treasured wildlife. For an all round fun, you could try out jet boating over some of the larger rivers flowing through Mount Aspiring National Park. To reach boat, you would however have to walk through the valley systems. Mt Awful and Mt Aspiring challenge climbers to conquer them. You could hire a professional climber from any of local guiding companies. With so much on offer, it is very difficult to resist the charm of Mount Aspiring National Park.
