Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival

Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival is one of the biggest sporting winter extravaganzas. Over the last 33 years, the Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival has emerged as a big event on Queenstown's special event calendar and is termed as “The Southern Hemisphere's Ultimate Winter Party”. The Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival was first staged way back in 1975. The festival has grown to such a stature that it announces the advent of winter. It is celebration time for the whole of Queenstown during the Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival.

In an effort to involve the Queenstowners in winter sports, an initiative was taken to hold an event based on such sports. At that time even the strongest of endorsers couldn't have imagined that the event would grow to this stature. Now the event is an international fixture.

Last year, over 60 events were lined up over a period of 10 days. Exciting events like jet boating, mountain biking, multi-sporting and snow-man making are all part of the ethos of this extravaganza. Artists painting, birdmen flying, splash for cash, ice hockey madness, drag racing, pet parading, big air jumping and dogs downhill racing are all lined up in the event's calendar. There will also be street parties, fireworks, live concerts, glitzy balls, comedy, theatres and a slew of other shows and non-stop live entertainments all over the town.
