The history of Roaring Megs Restaurant goes way back to the 1880s, but the restaurant was established in 1981 and has drawn considerable patrons from within the country and internationally as well. The restaurant was bought in 1990 by Dominique Jeanneret & Peter Gertsch and has undergone a series of changes. The current proprietors are Dominique Jeanneret (Chef & Owner) and Sharon Jeanneret (Manager & Owner). Roaring Megs is an excellent dining option and is a favorite of both the natives and international tourists visiting Queenstown. Roaring Megs Restaurant has created a name for itself due to its dedicated stress to excellent quality food prepared with the fresh indigenous ingredients. The Restaurant is the recipient of the Beef & Lamb Hallmark of Excellence Gold Plate for the past 7 consecutive years. The menu encompasses a number of selections under the following heads Crusts (freshly baked breads), Soups, Entrees, Main Courses, Desserts and Beverages. The dishes served here hint of European and Pacific Rim cuisine while still appeasing the international palate. A Japanese translation of the menu is also available upon request. The ambiance at Roaring Megs is a cozy and comfortable one exuding ease and warmth. It is an excellent venue for socializing and a night out with family and friends. The interiors are done up with distinctive Victorian influences and the excellent service and presentation makes dining here an excellent experience.
