Remarkables Queenstown

Remarkables is a world class skiing area located high on the Remarkables mountain range and enjoys soft, cold and dry snow for most part of the season that generally runs from late June to mid October. The area was opened in 1985 and ever since then it has become famous for its alpine environment, relaxed atmosphere and its sense of fun. Remarkables skiing area is often frequented by young, hip snowboarders, freeskiers and families who flock to the mountain's varied trails for some fun.

The Remarkables in Queenstown covers an area of about 700 hectares of alpine reserves out of which 220 hectares can be used for skiing. The three north facing sunny bowls at the Remarkables are sheltered by soaring peaks. The park is mostly frequented by teenagers who hang out in the park enjoying hip hop music. Bands and DJ's regularly perform on the sun deck that overlooks the learners slope. The crowds that are mostly here during the lunchtime enjoy the antics of the Kea population.

The X-Box terrain and Rail Park are new extensions of the Remarkables. The Parklife Superpipe is extremely popular with the young and not so young freestylers. A separate dedicated beginner's park has been designed for children and terrain park beginners with a number of features.

Children who are 10 years old or below can enjoying skiing facilities free at the Ski Area in Remarkables. The Remakrbales Skiing area also offers families the best value deal in New Zealand. The Ozone Tubing Park provides an added attraction for families.

The Remarkables in Queensland offers a number of facilities which include a Skiwiland Creche which is licensed, an award winning Snowsports School, licensed cafe, rental and repair shop and Altitude Sports retail store. A number of events are held here such as Cadbury Moro Slopestyle series as well as the Parklife Invitational.

The Remarkables Ski Area is a 45-minute drive from Queenstown. You could avail a ski shuttle which has daily services to and from the town.
