Entertainment in New Zealand

New Zealand - Auckland - Christchurch - Queenstown - Wellington
The diverse kinds of entertainment in New Zealand will help you and your family to spend a holiday that would be worth remembering. So here are some of the types of entertainment in which you can indulge yourself:

- Food and Wine: The Pacific Rim cuisine style of New Zealand draws attention of many people throughout the world. This cuisine is a unique blend of Pacific and Asian flavors with the Anglo Saxon. This mouth-watering range of flavors is available nationwide. If you want to try out for distinct New Zealand dishes you can choose from a wide variety of them viz. lamb, pork and venison; salmon, crayfish, Bluff oysters, paua (abalone), mussels and scallops; kumara (sweet potato); kiwifruit and tamarillo; and pavlova, the national dessert, made from meringue and lashings of fresh whipped cream topped with fresh fruit or berries. Though only some chic silver-service restaurants are available in main centers, the trend is of more relaxed cafe-bar dining. An increasing number of international restaurants can be found here with more than 900 Asian restaurants. The best known white wines, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, are reputed internationally, with the red wines fast catching up with them.

- Alcohol: Alcohol is served seven days a week in almost all the night-spots, restaurants and cafes. Throughout the week the liquor outlets sell beer, wine and spirits, and the supermarkets selling beer and wine only. You should be 18 years and above to be eligible to buy and consume alcohol in public and a photo-ID is required for the age proof.

- Nightlife in New Zealand: The live DJ and band concerts, particularly in the larger cities of New Zealand bring a renewed zest to the nightlife. There's a wide range of night-clubs, cabarets, pubs, concerts and live performances to be chosen from. The ones who enjoy the thrills of life can try their luck at the four casinos in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown.

- Smoking: To protect people from the ill-effects of passive-smoking, it is restricted in all hospitality venues, including the restaurants, bars, cafes and casinos. If one desires to smoke can do it outside these places.

- Shows: First-class shows and performances are staged in most cities. You can enjoy watching theatre, orchestral concerts, ballet, rock and jazz with tour family.
