Cricket is a popular game in Wellington and there are plenty of cricket clubs and cricket grounds to prove this fact. Onslow cricket club, Wellington cricket club, Wellington firebirds, the Victoria University of Wellington cricket club and such others that do a lot to promote cricket in Wellington and in New Zealand in general. Here’s something on the cricket clubs and teams just spoken about. - The Wellington cricket club was established in 1998 and has since then played a major role in coaching the youth of Wellington as good cricket players. - The Wellington firebird has Anthony Stuart as the present coach and most of the games are played in the Basin reserve Ground in Wellington. They were the runner-ups in the State Championship in 2006. - The Victoria University Cricket club was established in 1906 and has since then played a notable role in the administration of cricket in Australia. The club coaches both men and women and also non-students. The subscription to the club is also cheap. - Onslow Cricket Club is a comparatively younger club and has contributed a lot to junior cricket in Wellington. There are plenty of sports grounds in Wellington that are open to all kinds of games including cricket. Basin Reserve in Wellington is the official cricket ground of Wellington.
