You can get to Wellington via a number of different modes like air, land, sea, and rail. Wellington is less than one hours' flight from anywhere in New Zealand. Wellington is served by major roads and highways, so traveling by car or by coach is no problem. Traffic is not heavy and the scenery is spectacular.

Wellington Railway Station is right in Downtown Wellington. This is the point of arrival for both the Bus and Rail systems.There is a range of Tranz Scenic Rail Routes from all major New Zealand cities. The Overlander travels daily between Wellington and Auckland, and the TranzCoastal travels daily between Picton and Christchurch connecting with Interislander sailings to and from Wellington.
