One the best place in Wellington to be is the Wellington Zoo, Wellington. The zoological garden or the zoo in the city is the oldest zoo in New Zealand. This was founded in the year 1906. the interesting story behind the zoo dates back to 1906 when the Bostock and Wombwell Circus presented a lion to the Wellington City. Over the years the zoo has witnessed a sea change. Over the last hundred years the commitment of the zoo towards conservation of wildlife in the city has seen a wide success. The art of bringing wildlife and general population together has changed the way outlook of preservation in the city. Wellington Zoo has witnessed the administration being controlled by the Wellington City Council, but in June 2003 the zoo was transformed into a charitable trust and presently it is under the administration of the board of six trustees with the Wellington City Council being the chief funding agency.
