Makara Beach Wellington

New Zealand - Auckland - Christchurch - Queenstown - Wellington
Makara Beach is situated in downtown Wellington and one of the most attractive tourist spots on the weekends. Perhaps it is one of the quieter beaches in New Zealand during the week. To enjoy the rough and rigid nature of Makara, go up the Makara Track, which begins and ends at the beach, and provides a number of wonderful views in all of Wellington as well as dareIsay the North Island. The beach lied up at the end of Makara Road that runs from the south end of Karori Road. The bottom of the Makara Beach, Wellington is very rough and it really does not feel that this place is just 20mins from Wellington CBD. The black rock beach is surrounded by huge cliffs and wave breaks and
it feels remote and far from the infuriating crowd.

The barren coastal settlement of Makara Beach is surprisingly protected, which make this place a perfect destination when the bitter winds of Lambton Quay indicate its stormy onslaught. The local cafe at Makara Beach, Wellington is the main attraction and an enjoyable place to wile away a winter afternoon.

Makara Beach, Wellington and its vicinity are situated on the wild coast west of Wellington city and are made up of Makara population – both those living at the beach and in Makara village. The estuary at the mouth of Makara Stream is a residual salt marsh estuary in the Wellington region and its catchments are the rustic Ohariu and Makara valleys.
