Wellington weather is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the city. It is not often that the climate possesses threats of ruining the day. There are little extremes about Wellington weather, the summers and the early autumns portrays the most settled weather of the city. The summers are usually warm making the city even more blissful. The daytime temperature during the summers in Wellington ranges from 19°C to 24°C. The conditions are very pleasant for touring the city. The temperature rarely crosses the 30°C and the city receives an average annual sunshine of around 2000 hours, which in fact is much more than other major cities of the country. The winters though are completely different with the conditions becoming more unsettled with gutsy winds and occasional frost. The daytime temperatures of this season hobble around the 10°C to 14°C mark. Frost occurs in the region mostly in the inlands during the clear sky conditions. The windy conditions prevailing during the winters are attributed to the fact of disturbed weather systems from the Tasman Sea. The rainy season in the Wellington weather fixture is a regular feature. The average annual rainfall received by the city ranges from 800 mm in the eastern Wairarapa, to 7000 mm in the high parts of the Tararua Range.
