Nestled between Island Bay and Lyall Bay, on the craggy shores of the Cook Strait, Houghton Bay, Wellington, comprises a beach that skirts Princess Bay that buzzes with a regular population of surfers and divers. Though predominantly a residential area, the southern part of Wellington's Southern Walkway and Greenbelt, the Buckley Road reserve, Houghton Valley School, and the Southern Headlands Reserve are also present in Houghton Bay, Wellington.
