With a view to taking measures in order to protect the dwellers of New Zealand during the World War Two, Wright’s Hill Fortress, Wellington was constructed. Consisted of operation rooms, an underground network of tunnels and three gun emplacements this fortress is one of the must see spots for travelers coming all over the globe to visit Wellington. Except Open Days, Wright’s Hill Fortress, Wellington remains closed. However, on Open Days a one hour long guided tour takes public and tourists through the underground channels of this fort which inevitably proves to be a fantastic experience. Moreover, the place is also famous for its grand 360 degree views from the summit, good bush walks and picnic spots.
