Oman is a very beautiful country which firmly follows Islamic religion. Though the people are tolerant towards other religion but mainly Sunni and Shia Muslims are found in Oman where they have developed their own kind of Islamic faith known as Ibadhism. The place has a rich culture and its history dates back to thousands of years. All the people here are very hospitable and most of them are aware of the traditional forms of Art and Crafts in Oman . There are various forms of Art and Crafts of Oman which has been here for many years. The Ministry of Oman is responsible for looking after the Art and Crafts in Oman . A traditional pottery was opened in Bahla in 1986 along with a textile weaving workshop in a place called Sumail. The young people in Oman are always encouraged to learn the ancient skills so that it can be carried forward by the future generations. The ancient Omanis were experts at wood carvings and metal works. The Art and Crafts in Oman also include the traditional process of ship building which is still followed and can be found at Sur. There were many incredible, old wooden vessels which have all disappeared but the people of Sur was successful in preserving the “Fateh al-Khair” on dry land, which is a huge ship weighing 220-tonne. There are many more things in Oman which are not directly related to art and crafts but are are sometimes considered to be a part of the Art and Crafts at Oman. The people here are all very skilled in horse breeding, camel rearing, bee keeping and for making halwa, incense and fragment The places of Art and Crafts in Oman are a perfect place for the Omanis to take refuge and provide relief to their soul, since its very difficult to find relief in this world of high technology which is constantly invading into our lives.
