Muscat , the capital city of Oman , is the main financial and trading center of the country.

Since the reign of Sultan Qaboos, the country has made remarkable progress and the capital city presents a good blend of modernism and aesthetic ancient culture tradition and a rich heritage. Communications in Muscat has made rapid development to keep pace with the developments around the world.

Muscat Communications include the transport sector as well as the telecommunications which has helped in bringing the different regions of the country close together as a compact unit. Transportation has been developed very effectively which is one reason for the rapid development of the country. The city of Muscat is well served with roadways linking it with other areas of the country. There several forms of public transportation running along the well paved roads of the city. The most popular and cheaper is the Baiza Buses that runsalong all major roadways and smaller byways. The Public buses colored red and green are limited buses and is slightly more exoensive. Tha taxis, colored orange and white, is a semi personal form of transport available for individual hire and roadway pick up service as Baiza buses.

Transport and Communications in Muscat is also well served in the air by some of the major Airlines bringing in large number of travelers to the Seeb International Airport. Gulf Air has one of its three headquarters set up in Muscat and the local Oman Air is centered in Oman. There are several other international airlines including Lufthansa and the British Airways operating regular flights through the Seeb International Airport.

Telecommunication has been developed very rapidly with the help and assistance of the countries that share a very cordial relationship with the Government of Oman. This has helped much in Muscat Communications . The telecom sector comprises of well regulated fixed line phone service and mobile phone service. There is an expansive network of telecommunications owned by both private and public sector. Elaf Telecom Sevrices and Oman Telecommunication Services (Omantel) are two main service providers. Nawras is another customer friendly service provider for mobile communications which brings global expertise and the best technologies.

A very well developed Muscat Communications is, therefore, the greatest contribution of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman which has provided it a global access.
