The gulf country of Oman which is also known to many a 'desert country' has some of the most beautiful gardens of the world. Public gardens and parks are everywhere. Muscat, Oman's capital, has some of most beautiful Parks and Gardens of the world. Visitors to the city are mesmerized by the lush green and colorful gardens and also the floral lining of the highways and byways. The Parks and Gardens in Muscat have become some of the major Tourists attractions in Muscat Oman . There are no entry fees to any of the parks. The city has several parks with varied areas and locations, some of the famous of which are Riyam Park, Qurum Natural Park and Al Naseem Public Park in Muscat. The Al Naseem Public Park in Muscat attracts a lot of visitors, especially during public holiday. The Muscat Municipality patronizes planting trees inside the park and increase the greenery. The Al Naseem Public Park in Muscat is located slightly out of town. It is situated on the highway which heads towards Sohar, some distance from the Seeb International Airport. It is the first park to be established in Oman. The park was inaugurated on the 15 th National day celebrations in 1985. The total area of the park is 750,000 sq m and it took around 11 months to build. The park is a haven for children. There is a small train with a carrying capacity of 70 passengers which goes around the whole park and enables tourists to enjoy the picturesque locale. Those who are interested in games, the park has playgrounds for football, volleyball and tennis. A library in the park is a popular attraction among the book lovers who come to the library and spend their whole day reading on varied topics in the tranquil ambiance of the park, among the chirping of the birds. There is a lake passing through the lake adding beauty to the lake. The park is open to all on Monday and Wednesday (4-11), Thursday and Friday(9-11) and on Tuesday(4-11) for women only. The Al Naseem Public Park in Muscat has a Japanese garden which was built by the Japanese Embassy in Muscat as a token gesture of the good relations between the two countries in 2000.
