Salalah Overview shows that Salalah is the second largest town in Omani after Muscat. It is the capital of Wali located in southern part of Omani. Traditionally the Sultan resides in Salalah and thus the town has gained prominence on the history. It is the birth place of Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan. The myth also goes that Salalah was the resting place for Job, who had undergone a lot of suffering. The resting place is not more than 20 kilometers from the town of Salalah.

It is easily accessible by the tourists. The rented taxis and cars ply on the road and are frequently available. It is, however, not a commercial area and people haunt the town for refreshment only. The Al-Balid and Samhuram are the oldest cities in the town and is the major tourists'' attraction. The tourists' hotspots include Nabi Ayub Tomb and Tomb of Prophet Omran. Salalah has quite a few beautiful golden beaches and spring, gardens and beautifully trimmed parks.

A Salalah Overview presents it as a beautiful land covered with tropical vegetation. It is covered with dense coconut and palm groves. There are incense bearing trees and also the Bosweilla family of vegetation that can be found only in three regions, namely Dhofar in Omani, Somalia, and Yemen.

Though it is a part of the Arabian Desert it has relatively a moderate climate. For this reason, people from the other parts of Omani come down to Salalah to get away from the terrible heat. The Monsoon months are the best. The town faces the Southern Monsoons during the rainy season.

The Salalah Festivals and Events make it all the more popular among the tourist. The town observes the Salalah Kharif festival during the monsoon months. It is the festival that highlights the culture of the town and throws light on the traditions that has come down through ages.

A land of culture and a one that has long been the residing place of the Sultan, Salalah upholds the culture of the town and represents the traditions of Omani in general.
