Towards the beginning of the 20th century, the American city planner Daniel Burnham constructed the summer recreational center, the city of Baguio in Philippines. The city was curved out of the valley along the Cordillera region. With its cool and pleasant climate and picturesque mountains, Baguio is a favorite destination to many artists, nature lovers and others looking for an idle holiday retreat. Located in this odyssey, is the Mansion House. It is a massive building, used as the summer capital of the Philippine Presidents. The Mansion House, Baguio is suitably linked to important heads of state. When not being used as a summer working office, the Mansion House becomes the site for a number of international conferences and seminars. During the first session of the Second Philippine Legislature, Governor General Wood, after consulting with Speaker Sergio Osmenia, summoned the lawmaking body to hold its session outside Manila in 1921. As a result, for the next three weeks, the legislature met at the Mansion House in Baguio. This large and majestic Baguio Mansion House has a long list of Filipino presidents and American governor-generals. It has an impressive and elegantly structured building and guesthouse. The ornate iron gate is constructed in resemblance with the Buckingham Palace of London. Tourists will get a good chance to take lovely photos of the Mansion House. It has rectangular blocks reflecting the pool along a tree-lined walkway. It also consists of houses, a museum displaying Presidential memorabilia. Near the Mansion House is the Wright Park where riders can trot around an oval track guided by trainers who lead horses with a hand held leash. Also, there is the Mines View Park, where tourists can have a pictographic view of the old mines of Benguet. At the park entrance is a market selling souvenir items.
