Baguio City has many interesting and attractive locations to visit, the chief among which is the Philippine Military Academy. It is located at the heart of the city, a place symbolizing glory and discipline. Philippine Military Academy, Philippines was established as an Officer's School of the Philippine Constabulary on February 17, 1905 at Intramuros, Manila, but was shifted to the Baguio City in September 1, 1908. In 1950, the Philippine Military Academy was transferred to a sprawling 373 hectare compound in Loakan which is 10 km south of downtown Baguio City. The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is the premier military institution of Philippines and is the training ground for future officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The cadets are instructed and trained to possess broad and basic military skills, and be educationally uplifted so as to pursuit a progressive military career. A rigid and unique 4-year curriculum has been designed to fit the specific needs of the major branches of service of the Armed Forces in Philippines. Acceptance of female cadets has started since 1993 in PMA. As you will come across the Philippine Military Academy, you will develop a sense of respect and pride for the officers and cadets who are trained in this Academy. PMA is empowered to confer upon its graduates a Bachelor of Science degree. However, any cadet regardless of branch of the service had a choice of three academic majors: Management, Computer Science, and General Engineering. A weekly military ceremony at Fort Del Pilar consists of regular Saturday inspection and parade. Occasionally, silent drills are also held. A tourist can visit the Philippine Military Academy just to witness these activities and events. Even the cadets go down to Manila to participate in several parades and ceremonies. The cadets are rated according to their performance in these parades.
