Spirits Disco Baguio City

The Summer Capital of Philippines becomes so overpopulated during the dreaded Manila heat wave season that it is believed that the locals conjured up horrific myths and petrifying urban myths with the hope of dispiriting more lowlanders from joining the exodus in invading their otherwise tranquil yet provocative little city, Baguio. Baguio’s best clubs and bars are at Nevada Square, session road, Legarda road and Leonard Wood road. Live bands play everywhere and the beer is cheap too!

There a lot of ghost stories about old houses, though Baguio is not at all an old city. Stories abound about the ghastly deaths of many foreign missionaries who believed that the omnipotent power of prayer would save them and thus stayed back and refused to evacuate the city. Most of them were killed while saying their prayers.

The popular Spirits Disco, was so named because ghosts seemed to abound there. In the past the whole house would be empty all year round expect during the once in a while visit by the owners. This first class establishment, the only one in Baguio with a new wave touch, has been set up in an old villa which dates from the turn of the century. It occupies two stories of open area, subdivided and furnished in an inventive way, using fleecy carpets and graceful colors, preserving the elements of the old structure.

The disco is outfitted with the most up-to-the-minute high-tech devices, such as light effects, large video screens, a fog machine, laser cannons and all this is accompanied with a superb sound system. A pub-restaurant on the second floor offers snacks and an excellent array of mixed drinks which can also be sipped in one of the comfy seating accommodations nestled into softly lit nooks. From the veranda, one can view Burnham Park, while enjoying the pleasant ambiance around the fireplace. The visitors soon discover the striking games rooms; the following facilities are offered: Family computers, darts, table-tennis, pool, billiards and table-golf.
