Dead Forest, Boracay
Dead Forest was formed when a dam that separated the sea water from the forest collapsed. The sea water plundered the mangroves and forced it into being a Dead Forest with immense fecundity for folklores and tales of ghosts. The locals of Boracay believe that on the moon bathe nights the forest comes alive with supernatural beings. The entire area appears to be caught in a morbid time warp, with intertwining roots that appear out of nowhere and disappear with a surreptitious twist; no wonder the Dead Forest is considered to be an excellent site for photography. Dead Forest can easily be reached from Bulabog Boracay Beach on foot. The forest has not yet been developed into a popular tourist destination. There have been many who have traipsed along the path unaware of the forest’s presence, only to be struck by its brooding presence which twirls around the trees in calamitous somberness.
