Boracay in Philippines-the island of warm white sandy beaches, lush greenery and cool waters is the perfect place for a peaceful weekend. Reaching Boracay from the capital of Philippines, Manila is not at all an arduous task. The presence of a number of air-routes make it quite easy to reach Boracay hardly within am hour or so. The sea-routes are also preferred by a lot of adventurous tourists and the yare quite cheap and affordable too. But once you are inside the island, you might wonder how to go about this magnificent island. Transportation in Boracay is also very easy to avail and you will get used to it within a few hours.

The most prominent and usual form of public transportation in Boracay are the motorized pedicabs or tricycles. The fares are written on the front of the pedicabs and are quite reasonable during the daytime. The fares get doubled at night but are negotiable in most cases. Non-motorized pedicabs can also be spotted down the beach pathway. The price varies according to the destination you choose to go.

Several locations along the White Beach are off-limits to motorized vehicles. Here you can find mountain bikes, scooters and quadbikes which can be rented.

Outrigger canoes (motorized bancas) and sailboats (paraws) are a good form of transportation in Boracay and come to great help if you want to explore around the island's coast. The paraw is a narrow hulled boat with outriggers on both sides. These local types of boats move very fast in the wind but can be dangerous and difficult to handle for inexperienced sailors.

The Boracay Island is very small and many tourists find it a good idea to go around the island on foot. However, the hilly region around Yapak is quite bare and does not have the cool shade of large trees. Direct sunlight is very strong around 2pm and people avoid walking around this time and prefer the local transportation in Boracay. But, otherwise, it's a lovely experience to walk down the island and around the windy beaches. You get to have a closer look at the wonderful nature if you walk round at your own pace.
