Cebu Population

According to the population census of 2000, the population of Cebu rounds upto about 718,821. The majority of the people of Cebu are either Cebuanos or Malay. The rest of the population is of Chinese, Spanish or of Mexican origin. As far as Cebu's economic and the political activities are concerned, it is looked after by the people who are of Spanish or Chinese origin. Regarding the foreign groups it can be said that the Koreans form the majority. The other foreign groups who have tried to adopt the culture and the values of the city are the Australians, Germans, British, Japanese and the Koreans. The people of the Western European and Asia make up the smallest portion as far as population is concerned.

Most of the inhabitants of Cebu are Roman Catholic or either belongs to the Protestant Churches of Igklesia ni Cristo or to the United Church of Christ (situated in Philippines). The people who belong to the Muslim community are few in number and the rest of the citizens are Taoists
