Cinemanila International Film Festival Manila is not only the longest running
festival in Philippines but is also the only internationally reputed film festival
of the country. That is why this international film festival is considered as
the "Festival of Festivals".
Manila Cinemanila International Film Festival was founded by filmmaker Tikoy
Aguiluz and was launched first time in 1999. The main idea behind this film
festival was to develop talents of independent artists vision. This international
film festival of Manila gives opportunities to various artists of national as
well as international fame to showcase their hidden talents.
Cinemanila International Film Festival of Manila is not just a festival but
it is a way to express craftsmanship, a tribute to Filipino creativity and a
toast to the great art of filmmaking. Many well-known personalities of film
industry from all over the world took part in this festival. Oscar-nominated
director Fernando Meirelles (Brazil), Adoor Gopalkrishanan (India), Nonzee Nimibutr
(Thailand), Rob Nilsson (USA), Miriam Kubesca (Germany) and many more are some
of them.
The annual festival of Cinemanila is also known locally by the name of Makati
Cinemanila International Film Festival. Besides screening some good art work
in film making it also features a screen writing competition.
