Philippines - Cebu - Boracay - Baguio - Manila
Volleyball in Philippines, like other sports, is a very popular one and has much potential to grow into a game for the mass. Originating in the United States, the game has more than a century’s history behind it. Way back in 1895, William G. Morgan, an instructor at the YMCA in Holyoke, decided to combine elements of basketball, baseball, tennis and handball to create a game for his classes of businessmen which would demand less physical contact than basketball. He took the tennis net and raised it 6 feet 6 inches above the floor, just above the average man's head and thus, started the game of volleyball which was called ‘Mintonette’ at that time.

Philippines, like all other volleyball playing nations, boasts of a positive present and a bright future for the sport. The Philippine Volleyball Federation is the governing body for volleyball in the Philippines. A regular member of the Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Volleyball Federation is acknowledged by the International Volleyball Federation which is the governing body for the sport of volleyball in the world.
