Falconry in Saudi Arabia is a traditional sport originated a few hundred years in this very rugged terrain. This sport is still observed as a source of Entertainment in Saudi Arabia.
The Art of Falconry is rather tedious and time consuming when put to practice, and had its origin in ancient Arabia where the Falcons were trapped and trained to hunt there by supplementing food for the desert dwellers.

In order to train the bird, the falconer swings a lure around his head and the bird is trained to come to it, once the bird lands on lure or the bundle of feathers it is reward with a meat piece. The equipments for practicing Falconry in Saudi Arabia comprise of a perch (wakir) on which the bird sits, a jesses (subuq) that is attached to the bird's ankles and a burqa or a hood which is placed over the bird's eyes to keep it calm while not working. Falconer also wears a glove or dass in order to protect his hands from the bird's sharp claws.
