Biet Nassif in Jeddah
Saudi Arabia - Al Khobar - Jeddah - Riyadh
The architecture of the city clearly reflects the history of Jeddah. One of the brilliant examples of this rich historical past of the city is the Biet Nassif in Jeddah. In 1990 the Arab authorities established the Historical Area Preservation Department to preserve the old structures thereby promoting cultural tourism in the country. During this time most of the old houses in the Old city of Jeddah were renovated and among them was the Biet Nassif House.
One of the prominent renovated structures in the Old city is the Biet Nassif in Jeddah which dates back to the mid 1800's. The five storey building of Biet Nassif at Jeddah provides a rare opportunity for the travelers to explore the blend of traditional architecture with modernity. Owned by the Nassifs, a merchant clan settled in Jeddah, the Nassif House is located at Suq al Alawi, one of the main city streets.
The mysterious looking Nassif House is one of the most popular houses in Jeddah. The Biet Nassif in Jeddah has played host to a number of prominent figures of Saudi Arabia including King Abdul Aziz ibn Saud, the founder of Saudi Arabia.
Today, the Nassif House has been converted into a museum and is a must visit listed in the Jeddah Travel Guide.
