Hill of Arafat in Mecca

Saudi Arabia - Al Khobar - Jeddah - Riyadh
Hajj is the sacred pilgrimage to Mecca, undertaken by every devout and healthy Muslim. It is every Muslims ambition to walk the hallowed land of Mecca. Come Dhu al-Hijjah (a sacred month in the Muslim calendar) every year, millions throng the Masjid Al Haram and pray at the Kabba. The Hill of Arafat in Mecca is another sacred site that the Hajjis (pilgrims undertaking the Hjj) are enjoined to undertake. The Hill of Arafat at Mecca is a mount to the east of this sacred city and its composition is believed, by geologists, to be of granite.

The Hill of Arafat in Mecca is also known as Jabal ar-Rahmah, meaning the Mountain Of Mercy. All sins are believed to be forgiven here and God in his infinite generosity is pleased by the pilgrims. Prophet Muhammad is believed to have delivered a sermon here to his fellow pilgrims. Towards the dusk years of his life the prophet had made the Hajj and his words remain etched in the religious scriptures as the Farewell Sermon. The Hill of Arafat in Mecca is worshipped and revered to be the site where this was delivered. The plain lands and foothills of the Hill of Arafat are known as the Plain of Arafat. The Hajjis make it a point to be present here on the ninth day of Dhu al-Hijjah and spend the afternoon in devout prayer. The Hajjis presence is a compulsion as prescribed by the Hajj rituals and a failure to comply deprives the entire pilgrimage of its sanctity and importance. Prophet Adam and his spouse Eve were forgiven here of their sins and reunited after 200 years of harrowing separation. Their compliance to the wills of Satan was forgiven here and thus, mercy is rendered to all repentant sinners who visit the Hill of Arafat. Tourists undertaking sightseeing in Mecca do not fail to visit the site.
