The Mountain of Light (Jabal-al-noor) near Mecca is a mountain that lies in the Hejaz region of Saudi Arabia. The Cave of Hira on the Mountain of Light (Jabal-al-noor) in Mecca is the shrine that most Muslims visit. The Prophet Muhammad is believed to have sought solitary confinement in the Hira Cave, dejected by the evil in society. Here the Angel Gabriel is said to have revealed himself and guided the Prophet. The Cave Hira on Mountain Of Light is a small 4 yards by 1.75 yards hollow, but the prophet is known to have spent quite some time here and often also taken people here to meditate. This initial enlightenment is believed to have occurred in 610 and is popularly known as Night of Power in the Koran, the holy scripture of Islam. This and a number of subsequent illuminations were rendered to the prophet and were conveyed to the world by Muhammad's adopted son who visited him in this cave.
