Mecca is situated on the Sirat mountains of Saudi Arabia at a distance of 45 miles from the Red Sea harbor Jidda or Jeddah. Mecca is the holy city of the Muslim because Prophet Muhammad was born in Mecca and he started reformation from here as well. Muhammad first stopped the pagan worship and culture here. Then he declared Mecca as a holy place for the Muslims and devoted the city in the name of Allah. The Al-Masjid al-Haram - the holy Mosque which is known as the most sacred place of the Muslims is located here. At the time of Hajj various religious rites and rituals are performed in Mecca including 'Tawaf' and Mut'ah of hajj. Prayers and sacrifices of animals are made as part of the rituals.
