Land of large desert expanses, of oasis and camels and things we read only in
novels, that is what Saudi Arabia is all about. Before one travels to this country
one should take a quick glance at the Economy and Politics of Saudi Arabia,
Climate of Saudi Arabia, History of Saudi Arabia and Communications in Saudi Arabia.
This would make their trip a complete success.
The Saudi Arabian history is as rich as the Economy of Saudi Arabia. In 1744
Muhammad bin Saud, joined forces with Muhammad ibn Abd-al-Wahhab and created
a new political entity. However, the Saudi Arabian Politics as it stands today
has emerged very gradually. The late king Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud conquered a large
part of the peninsula that constitutes the nation today. The people follow a
monarchial rule here.
The Economy and Politics of Saudi Arabia is very interesting. In 1992 it was
declared that the descendants of Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud shall govern the country.
To assist them there is council of Ministers who were first introduced in 1953.
The motto of the people is L? il?h? ill?-ll?hu; muhammadun ras?lu-ll?hi ("There
is no god but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah"). They have accepted
the Quran as the constitution of their country and they follow its dictates.
Oil production is a major revenue gatherer and constitutes the crux of the
Economy of Saudi Arabia. Oil was first discovered in 1930 but it was not until
the 1970s that the country became the largest oil producer of the world. This
boosted the economy to a large extent. It is a member of OPEC and in 1999 after
the Gulf War Saudi Arabia was most instrumental in hiking the prices of oil
and petroleum products. Recently in 2000 it joined the World Trade Organization.
When one surveys the Saudi Arabia Travel Guide one would definitely take a
look at the Economy and Politics of Saudi Arabia. They should also have some
idea about the Currency of Saudi Arabia and the Language of Saudi Arabia besides
Politics and Economy of Saudi Arabia in Asia.
