Arts House
Introduction:
The Arts House in Singapore was initially known as the Old Parliament House . At present the building is known as the Arts House at the Old Parliament. The Arts House in Singapore was previously home to the Singapore Parliament from the years 1965 to 1999, when it moved to the adjoining new building. The Old Parliament House is the oldest existing government building, built in the year 1827. The Arts House is currently a multi-disciplinary arts venue which plays a major role in hosting art exhibitions and concerts.
About Arts House:
The Singapore Arts House at the Old Parliament opened in the year 2004 as an arts and heritage centre. The old building was restored and also the furnishings and the design were preserved the chambers of the Arts House were converted into a function room where music performances could be held. The Arts House of Singapore has Tuscan-style columns and cornices and art exhibitions and other functions were regularly held at the gallery. The glass hall adjacent to the gallery was originally a part of the Legislative Assembly library and was the committee room from 1980 to 1999. The boardroom of the Arts House in Singapore was a former council room and is used for private functions at the present time.
