Chettiar Temple

Chettiar Temple is a famous Hindu Temple at Singapore and is one of the exquisite tourist attractions of Singapore. It is also known as the Sri Thandayuthapani Temple, and is a marvel of the Chettiar art and architecture. It is actually a Shiv temple devoted to Lord Shiva, and its completion in the year 1984 is a landmark in the history of Singapore. The god of this temple is also known as Subramanian; he is worshipped with dedication and devotion in the festival known as Thaipusam.

At this fiesta thousands of aficionados gather and pay homage to Lord Shiva. They are generally bedecked with spears, hooks, and spiked steel rods that are pierced in their bodies. They start their walk from the Srinavasa Perumal Temple on Serangoon Road and it is believed by them if anyone asks for anything under the sky, Lord Subramanian would grant it; so paying of gratitude is another ceremony at Chettiar Temple. So, if you have anything to ask for, that you have been looking for a good many number of days, then do come to Chettiar Temple, so that your wishes are fulfilled and you may get to know of the superior cultural heritage of Singapore.
