Lau Pa Sat
Lau Pa Sat is Singapore's first market situated on the southern Bank of Singapore River. After some governmental acts the market was shifted to Telok Ayer Street. The market was inaugurated in the year 1825 and it gained popularity within few days. Architect George Drumgoole Coleman designed the buildings of the place which are the major attractions of the place. The octagonal, iron structure was specially designed by James Mac Ritchie. The building is a landmark and its identity lies in its iron construction.
Lau Pa Sat is located in one of the busiest districts of Singapore that is developed not only as tourists spot but for the trade and commerce. Tourists visit the place to receive a true essence of the place.
