Singapore History Museum Singapore

Popularly known as the National Museum of Singapore, the Singapore History Museum is a 119 years old monument that remains to be the oldest museum of Singapore. Located on Stamford Road, the Singapore History Museum is one of the three national museums of Singapore.

The history of the Singapore History Museum dates back to 1887. The museum houses photographs, Singapore artifacts, replicas and a wide range of other items showcasing the history of the nation. The museum was relocated to Riverside Point to renovate and reconstruct parts of the original venue and was shifted back in 2006 after the renovation. To honor the venue at Riverside Point a permanent exhibition is arranged known as Rivertales.

The new museum not only has galleries for exhibition but also a lecture theatre, a centre for education and resource, public sculpture garden, restaurants and a souvenir shop. Keeping the masterpieces unblemished, the authorities modernized the building of the museum. However the architecture of the new museum remains the same.

The Singapore History Museum is open on all days between 10 am and 6 pm. For most exhibitions, admission is free, however a nominal amount is charged for some selected workshops.
