Kampong Glam is located on the northern part of the Singapore River. This area is situated near the urban areas named Rochor and Kallang. In the year 1819, Kampong Glam was the home of Malya a local ruler of Singapore. Malya became the master of the land after signing a treaty with East India Company, Temenggong Abdul Rahman and Sultan Hussein Shah of Johor. Kampong glam is the home of a deep bonding between Malaya and the Muslim Community. The place is the seat of various Muslim activities and religious programs.
