Tampines, Singapore is regarded as the largest residential area in Singapore. Tampines is also known as the Tampines New Town which is located in the East Region of the main island. The town is named after the name of Tampines trees which can be still located in the area. This residential area is over populated and can be regarded as one of the busiest in the state. This place was once under the forest area and due to increment of population, became part of the city.
