Farrer Park Singapore
The first Racecourse in Singapore had been constructed at the Farrer Park, the calm and serene neighbor of the Singapore City. The following important highways Dorset Road, Hampshire Road and Northumberland Road bound it . The park has been named after the President of the Municipal Commissioner R.F Farrar.
The Racecourse on the Farrar Park has however been established in the year 1842 , and is managed by the Singapore Sporting Club . This field is also employed for Golf and Rifle Range on the off days (for Race). In 1924 the Race Course was renamed as Singapore Turf Club.
But still it remained inside the Farrer Park Singapore, but later it was removed to Bukit Timah . This was accomplished in the year 1933. After that the Farrar Park was opened for Public. It remained as a preferred Sporting venue for many, with the Sporting House becoming the headquarters for the National Sports Promotion Board . It also served as an appropriate spot for Political campaigns. After Independence the Farrar Park was remodeled, and proper barracks were stationed there| Hotels in Singapore | |
