Singapore Flying Club

If you dream of flying and want to learn how to fly an airplane then you can come to the Singapore Flying Club. This recreation center is the perfect place to embark on this adventure activity.

The Singapore Flying Club is located in Tanjong Pagar, close to Keppel Harbor. The club consists of a hangar, a clubhouse and accommodation facilities for the CFI. The club was set up in April 1928 after years of planning. The first flight was taken by Flight Lieutenant Carnegie, R.A.F. in a DH 60 Cirrus Moth Seaplane. The club purchased its third seaplane in the year 1929. Between the years 1930 to 1933, the club underwent massive expansion. In the yea 1937, the club moved to its new venue near the Kallang Airport. In 1957, it again relocated to the international airport in Paya Lebar. At present the club operates from the Seletar Airfield.

The Singapore Flying Club originally had 14 Honorary Members, 90 Ordinary Members and 8 Subscribing Members. To become a member one has to pay a certain fee depending upon the type of membership. Ordinary membership requires an entrance fee of S$1500 and a monthly subscription of S$100. People below 21 years ca become members by paying an entrance fee of S$750 and a monthly fee of S$67.

The Singapore Flying Club has a 131 Instrument Flight Simulator, where you can learn how to fly an aircraft. There are pilots and instructors who will give you all the guidance and teach you how to fly an aircraft. At present the club only operates one aircraft called the 1Socata TB-9C Tampico Club. You can undergo their training programs and obtain your Private Pilot License. It takes around 55 to 75 hours of training to get the license. The cost of training ranges from S$20,000 to S$30,000. The training programs are safe and well planned and are filled with fun and excitement. The flying club conducts a large number of events and shows for the members regularly.
