Surrounded by sea on all sides Busan in South Korea has always been interested in marine life. This has mainly led to the establishment of the Busan Marine Natural History Museum on June 10, 1994. Busan Marine Natural History Museum is the first and the largest marine natural history museum in Korea.

Location
The Busan Marine Natural History Museum is located at San13-1, Oncheon-dong, Dongnae-gu, in Busan, Korea.

Museum Building
Standing on a total area of 13,656 square meters, the museum building occupies an area of 8905 square meters. Initially it was called World Marine Life Exhibition Hall and after the making of the 2nd Exhibition Hall in 2003 the museum was renamed to Busan Marine Natural History Museum. Apart from two main big exhibition halls, Busan Marine Natural History Museum is comprised of Media/Science room, Special Exhibition room, Library for Marine Books, Data room, Exhibition Preparatory room, Cyber Reading Room etc.

Purpose
Busan Marine Natural History Museum is an exclusive museum was found with the mission of providing an opportunity to the citizens and visitors of Busan to comprehend, explore and increase their interests about valuable marine lives. Busan Marine Natural History Museum promotes the significance of biological diversity by collecting, preserving, classifying, displaying, experimenting on, researching, studying and exhibiting items related to marine life and marine natural history. The Museum exhibits about 21,000 sea items from 100 nations all over the world and this marine museum has become the central axis of a network of all the maritime museums in the country. The exhibitions halls of the museum are also rented at times for special exhibitions or events.

Opening Hours: 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. in the winter)

No Service Days: January 1st and every Sunday

Admission Fee: Adult – 1500 won
Student – 1000 won
Children: - 600 won

Voice Service: Visitors may borrow a recorder which would describe the collections in the permanent exhibition hall.
